보스턴 칼리지 영문학과의 모더니즘과 현대이론 교수이다. 그녀는 James Joyce and the Law of the Father(Yale University Press, 1989)와 Melancolics in Love: Representing Women’s Depression and Domestic Abuse(Rowman & Littlefield, 2000)를 저술했다. 그녀는 현재 Amorous Act: Lacanian Ethics in Modernism, Film, and Queer Theory라는 제목의 책을 완성중에 있다. 그녀는 또한 Other Press의 현대이론 시리즈 Contemporary Theory series의 편집인인고 하버드 대학교의 인문학 센터의 “정신분석 실천”의 공동 의장이기도 하다.
