The way the author narrates Grenouille's feelings is undoubtedly what I liked most about the book. He manages to portray feelings of love in someone who doesn't experience them, and at a certain point, this book (if read from the protagonist's point of view) opens up the possibility that it's a romance novel because that's what he felt. I'm giving it 3 stars because the overall writing style isn't my cup of tea. The plot isn't confusing, but I do find it somewhat strange and rather boring. I must say that the last 3 or 4 chapters (or parts, I'm not sure) were my favorites.

The fact that Grenouille achieved what he wanted, but instead of feeling peace, love, or positive feelings in general; The fact that he felt such strong rejection, hatred, and disappointment seemed like a pretty incredible twist... especially when later he thinks about everything he could have done, but simply because of the hatred he felt, he chose to die. And when he causes the thugs to feel not despair or trauma after eating him, but love and pride, I consider it a very interesting perspective on cannibalism and on Grenouille... because instead of choosing a NORMAL death, he decided until his last breath to be loved in a way he wasn't loved throughout his life.
