the old woman with the knife such a uniquely captivating and fast paced read following a 65year old female assassin as she navigates going in a brutal industry was both gripping and surprisingly deeply human the contrast between her cold efficency and subtle unexpected emotions make her character unforgettable highly recommended if you love dark character driven Korean thrillers with a fresh perspective!

OUR LIVES AND CAREERS ARE ON A COUNTDOWN. We are expected to wrap life up at the midway point, wrap it up and get out of the way. But I don't believe people have to live up to societies expectations. I rather believe in defying that. This book is provocative because it's pushing that thought as an undercurrent. This old woman is an assassin, and she is still dealing with aging. She is fighting these societial pressures even in her own perception of herself, even as she is HUGELY DEFYING SOCIETY BY BEING AN ASSASSIN!! While I don't advocate killing😰 I do believe in doing what you feel and not accepting a role placed on us by society. I love the way this author is quietly weaving a challenge to societies standards.

How society treats us as we age is a undercurrent theme in this book. But also, how we view ourselves. Are we going to shrink ourselves and be invisible just because we are now at the second half of our lives? Just because we earned dips and valleys in our face, does that mean we suddenly must cross over into a limited definition of ourselves. Provocative
